Allow me to introduce myself...
Hello! My name is Laura Izabella Umbach. I graduated from the School of Visual Arts in New York City. I have earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Graphic Design. I'm currently residing in my hometown of New Jersey, just 18 miles outside of Manhattan.
Growing up, I have always been surrounded by creativity. My mother is a fine artist who also went to art school in Manhattan. She paints, draws, sculpts and enjoys pottery. As much as she loves working with clay, I feel her true passion is painting. As a child, I remember having paint sessions with my mother, and she would teach me all her techniques. We also did the same with drawing, and she would critique my work and help me learn.
As I got older, I became experienced enough to critique her work too. And the fun didn't end at the edge of the paper or canvas, I remember her painting embellishments on the walls of our kitchen and bathroom when I was young. She can look at anything and see the potential to make improvements and make things more beautiful. That's when I took a page out of her book, folded it up, and stuck it into my imaginary back pocket. I took everything I have learned from her with me throughout my life.
When it came time for me to attend SVA, I took my love for creating and really sharpened my skills. I learned more ways I could channel my creative energy and passion into real things I could gaze upon with admiration and share with the rest of the world. And it doesn't stop at graphic design, drawing and painting. I enjoy photography, silk screening, book making, working with wood pallet boards, and other hands on arts and crafts. I often work these hobbies into my designs and projects.
I've also found my love and talent in designing and fabricating wedding – and other assorted – invitations, logos, branding/corporate identity, business cards, package design, and have a great passion for typography. I have a lot of fun with my creativity and love making new and exciting things out of my ideas and concepts.
Lets work together to turn your ideas and passions into reality. Come create with me!
